Whats happening with the Sri Lankan civil war?!?!?!?

Okay some say it the civil war..but Tamil Tigers which are involved are prescribed as terrorist organization which totally comes in conflict when saying its a civil war which makes LTTE the rebel group with no terrorist origins. If LTTE was considered a terrorist organization can someone tell me what makes them a terrorist organization with legit proofs that they were involved in it. From what I've heard Sri Lanka is being brutal against journalists and NGO's why is that? who are the LTTE and why are more than 60+ million Tamil people supporting it and the cause of Tamil Eelam???
