He wants you to be straight forward with him which means- stop trying to play games- If you are upset that he hasn't called you- tell him. There is no sense in "trying not to appear insecure" if in reality- you don't feel secure in this relationship. Where is that going to lead you? Maybe he wants more out of your relationship but senses that you are trying to be something you aren't.
