I had the flu, and now my ears are messed up. ?

I had the flue for about 10 days with heavy chest congestion, sore throat, etc....on the 10th day all of a suddent the congestion started moving to my head. It was really weird because withing 1 hour all the congestion moved from my chest into my head and ear c. My right ear hurt so bad it felt as if it were giving birth. i could barely hear, my ear was leaking yellow mucus, and my fever shot up to 103.7. My head felt like it weighed 100 IBS. The next night the congestion moved to the other ear- Again it was leaking, and hurt like a mofo....So after several days of an exceptionally high fever and extreme ear pain I went to the ER. They were very busy- The DR took a quick look in my ear and down my throat....He said I had a flu in my ear, but it looked as though it was drying up - He spent all of 30 seconds with me. Then the nurse comes out a few minutes later and tells me I have bronchitis...? Yes, I was coughing a lot, but it was a completely dry cough- Anyway- she said the DR told her it was bronchitis (he never said that to me) and they prescribed me a Z-pak and Flonaise. I finished the Z pak in 5 days but my ears were still leaking....It took another week for them to clear, but now it as if they are too open. I can hear myself breath like I'm listening with a stethascope, and when I talk in my normal voice it sounds SO loud in my head. I cannot afford another Doctor visit this week. Any suggestions as to what I could have caused this?
